Financial Metrics provides computed ratios and per-share figures for a company, one row per reporting period. Each observation is derived from that period’s as-reported statements — margins, returns, leverage measures and per-share figures. Rows are returned newest first.

What You Can Use Financial Metrics For

Compare profitability and returns across periods without recomputing them. Screen a company’s margin trend. Assemble valuation inputs alongside daily market cap. Avoid re-deriving ratios that would otherwise have to be recomputed consistently across companies with different reporting shapes.

Financial Metrics Coverage

Coverage follows the underlying statements: SEC filers, for the periods their XBRL filings cover. A metric is null where the inputs it needs were not reported for that period.

Key Financial Metrics Fields

Rows carry margin measures, return measures, per-share figures and leverage measures, alongside report_period, period, currency and accounting_standard.

Currency and Accounting Standard

Every row carries currency and accounting_standard. Currency values are as reported and are never converted to US dollars, so per-share and absolute figures are in the company’s own currency. Ratios are dimensionless and are comparable across currencies, but they are still affected by the accounting standard: us_gaap and ifrs define several inputs differently. Check both fields before comparing across companies.

Financial Metrics Date Convention

report_period is the end of the fiscal period the metrics are computed for, and it is what the report-period filters apply to. period is annual, quarterly, or ttm for a trailing-twelve-month window ending at report_period. Trailing-twelve-month metrics are computed from a rolling window rather than from a period the company reported as such.

Financial Metrics Sources

Metrics are calculated by FocusAlpha from the company’s own as-reported XBRL figures. They are not read from the filing, and companies do not publish them in this form. The inputs are as filed, so a metric inherits any peculiarity of the company’s own reporting.
